Marble Cake

cake 014

I love cakes! I may not well be a dessert person but cakes just do not fall in that category πŸ™‚ I can always have a slice or two without feeling remotely guilty!

The recipe I am sharing today is the one that I used to bake my first cake ever. I have baked a lot since then but this recipe is my go to recipe whenever I want a fool proof cake. I always use this recipe as basics to create a lot of different variations. I hope that you too will fall in love with the taste and texture of this gorgeous cake!

So here is the recipe:

Eggs 4
Sugar 1 cup (powdered)
Cooking oil 1 cup
Plain flour 1 cup
Baking powder 2 tsp
Cocoa powder 2 tbs

Take a cake 2″Γ—8″ pan. Grease the pan and sprinkle some plain flour over it. Turn it upside down and tap gently to get rid of extra flour. Leave it aside and prepare the cake batter. Separate egg whites n yolks. Beat whites until it forms soft peaks.

Add sugar and mix gently. Add oil n mix. Then add the yolks and mix. Don’t over beat. Just mix with hand using a spatula or wooden spoon. Add sifted flour and baking powder. Mix to form a smooth batter. Take half a cup of batter out in a bowl and add 2 tbs full of cocoa powder. Drop this cocoa mixture into the cake batter in two places. Do not mix in. Transfer this cake batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 180 degree C for 35-40 mins.

For chocolate sauce:

Butter 25 gms
Cocoa 1/3 cup
Sugar (powdered) 1/3 cup
Corn flour 1/3 cup
Milk 1/2 cup

Mix all other ingredients with milk making sure no lumps are formed. Warm up butter in a pan on low heat. Pour this mixture in butter and keep stirring until it thickens a little. Turn off the heat and wait till it cools down. Put it in the fridge. Pour the chilled sauce over cooled down cake. Sprinkle some desiccated coconut on the top.
